Chair | Partner at DFJ Growth

Sam Fort became SCORES board chair in 2024, bringing 16 years of board experience to the role. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Sam discovered his passion for technology sparked by tinkering with an Apple IIGS computer during the earlier days of the internet.

That burgeoning fascination led Sam to pursue engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a BSE in computer and telecommunications engineering and a BA in economics. After launching his career at Morgan Stanley and TPG Capital, he earned an MBA at Stanford and is now a partner at DFJ Growth, focusing on groundbreaking technology investments. He has a deep interest in developments in AI and its wide-reaching societal impact, including its potential within the mission of SCORES. 

Outside of work, Sam enjoys outdoor activities, cheering on the Warriors, and unwinding with films. His current reads include the sci-fi novel Project Hail Mary and the bestseller Why We Sleep—though he still insists on his morning coffee ritual.
