Nancy Reyes/Program Manager San Francisco, Civic Center

Program manager Nancy Reyes first became part of America SCORES Bay Area as a fifth-grader at Leonard Flynn Elementary in San Francisco. “SCORES was part of my childhood,” she says. In college at USF, Nancy majored in sociology. Her older brother, who has autism, inspired her to focus her studies on children and adults with disabilities.

Before joining SCORES in 2019, Nancy worked as a recreational coordinator at The Arc of San Francisco, a nonprofit focused on serving those with intellectual and physical disabilities. Today, as a SCORES program manager in San Francisco, she works with poet-athletes at Cleveland, J Serra, Moscone, Paul Revere, and Guadeloupe elementary schools. Nancy shares her personal poetry with her students and encourages them to use poetry as a vehicle for expression. “What better way to work through your emotions and express yourself than to create your own lyrics?” she asks.

In her spare time, Nancy loves to lift heavy weights and run. She’s also an avid reader of both fiction and autobiographies. She highly recommends The Life of Abraham Lincoln by Henry Ketcham and The Altruist by Andrew Ridker.
