Jessi Grant
Communications Manager
Jessi Grant grew up the oldest of four siblings in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where proximity to the Windy City proved a real asset and influence in her childhood and adolescence. “Chicago has so much culture and diversity, and being exposed to that so early made me really curious about the world,” she says.
After earning a degree in Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Jessi worked as a tutor supporting first-generation high school students and an intern with the Chicago nonprofit, ArtReach, facilitating student arts programming in low-income neighborhoods. She followed those experiences with five years at The Chicago Lighthouse, a nonprofit serving blind and visually impaired communities.
Jessi moved to the Bay Area in 2022, initially taking a part-time grant writing position at SCORES, which evolved into her current role as the organization’s Communication Manager. She’s also currently pursuing a Reportage Photography Certificate at City College of San Francisco, sharpening the visual storytelling skills she brings to her social media work highlighting the stories of SCORES Poet-Athletes and the communities and experiences that shape them.
