Program Manager - West Contra Costa

Born and raised in a small Ohio town, Jamie Carter grew up in a tight-knit community shaped by her family’s values of land, family, and communal responsibility. Faith and church played central roles in her upbringing, where mentors from church, choir, and youth ministry showed her the power of investing in young people's lives.

Jamie attended Ursuline College in Ohio on a track scholarship, pursuing a degree in English with a focus on media language. After college and a move to California, her career path took her through various roles, including recreation programming at the JCC in San Francisco; administrative work in philanthropy, where she learned how funding shapes community initiatives; and studio management at Alonzo King Lines Ballet.

Jamie joined SCORES in 2023 as a coach, drawn to the mission of youth empowerment through sports, creative writing, and service, despite never having played soccer. "These are my roots," she says. Within a year, she was promoted to Program Manager, now overseeing 28 school sites in West Contra Costa County. Her approach centers on creating authentic community and supporting coaches in building meaningful connections with students.

"Richmond and SCORES have been instrumental in my journey. There's true grace and authenticity here."

Jamie lives in Richmond with her young son.
