Family Medicine MD

A Bay Area family doctor today, Andres Marin spent his earliest years living among extended family in Ecuador, sharing a four-story complex with his immediate family, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. “It was amazing, kids running up and down the stairs all the time, all of us together.”

At ten, Andres moved to Los Angeles, though the family continued visiting relatives in South America every summer. He became interested in medicine along the way, initially inspired by a stint working alongside a friend as an EMT after his freshman year at Pomona College. He earned his medical degree at UCSF.

Andres splits his medical practice between working at La Clinica de la Raza, a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that cares for the underserved in Oakland, and at San Francisco General Hospital as a UCSF faculty resident.

Andres joined the SCORES board after becoming part of the SCORES family. His two children play on San Francisco’s Sanchez Elementary School SCORES team, where his wife Ann is the school principal.

In his spare time, Andres loves being outdoors—climbing and surfing especially. And he’s a dedicated woodworker. Ask him about his sculptural wood art!
