Youth Development Golden Goal
America SCORES inspires youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to shape change in their communities. Our core offerings include soccer, poetry and service-learning projects.
Our innovative model and team-based approach improves participants’ health, increases academic engagement and promotes community engagement.
Teamwork, leadership, and commitment on the field translates to success in the classroom and measurable impact in the community.
Being part of a year-round soccer team gives youth a sense of belonging and provides them with abundant opportunities to be physically active and socially engaged. Poet-athletes proudly sport their SCORES jerseys and represent their schools on weekly Game Days. Soccer practices integrate nutrition, skill development, fair play practices, and teamwork.
During the Fall season, SCORES teams participate in writing workshops that help students express themselves in creative ways and improve their literacy skills. Poet-athletes develop their voices, share personal stories, and create original poetry.
In Spring, SCORES poet-athletes become agents of change in their own communities, conducting research and identifying a challenge they will address through community service. Our poet-athletes develop creative problem-solving and collaboration skills as they design and develop their project as a team.
Community
SCORES is a robust community of vibrant, optimistic young people and engaged, caring adults. Our poet-athletes receive transformative opportunities and support. In turn, they energetically give back to their communities in meaningful ways through a semester-long service learning program. Check out some of the issues recently tackled by SCORES teams below.
As a result of America SCORES programs, youth learn healthy habits, feel more connected to their school and to their peers, and become part of a team of engaged students who experience success on the field, in the classroom, and in their community.
